SCHEID
VINEYARDS INC.
COMMENTS
ON PROGRESS OF HARVEST
MARINA DEL REY,
CA- October 7, 1998 -Scheid Vineyards Inc. (Nasdaq-NMS: SVIN) commented
today on the progress of the 1998 harvest as of the third quarter ending
September 30, 1998.
Mr. Scott D. Scheid,
Chief Operating Officer of the Company, stated, "As of September
30, 1998, we have harvested approximately 7% of our producing acres.
This is compared to approximately 63% of our producing acres for the
comparable period in 1997. With this year’s harvest running about 4
weeks behind the ‘normal’ schedule, crop sale revenues for 1998 will
be almost entirely recognized in the fourth quarter." The Company
expects to report its third quarter results on November 10th.
Mr. Scheid also
commented on the Company's stock repurchase program. "Thus far,
we have repurchased 194,000 shares in 1998. We instituted the stock
repurchase program in July because we felt that at current price levels,
it was in the best interests of the Company and our stockholders. Under
this program, we have Board of Directors' authorization to purchase
approximately 100,000 additional shares."
