SCHEID VINEYARDS SCHEDULES

2ND ANNUAL WINE INDUSTRY FORUM

_Featured speakers include wine industry experts

Fredrikson, Motto and Gillespie

Marina del Rey, CA – May 5, 1999 – When it comes to annual shareholder meetings, no one knows how to liven them up better than public companies in the wine industry.

So, when Scheid Vineyards (Nasdaq NMS: SVIN) holds its annual meeting at the World Trade Club in San Francisco on Thursday, May 13, 1999, it will also be the stage for the 2nd Annual Scheid Vineyards Wine Industry Forum.

Scheid Vineyards shareholders, equity analysts, and attending media will hear from three of the best known wine industry experts, be treated to hors d’oeuvres, and taste some of California’s finest wines¼ ultra premium Monterey County wines from the grapes grown, vinted and bottled by Scheid Vineyards.

The decision to hold an annual wine industry forum in conjunction with its shareholder meeting stems from the fact that as a vineyard-driven operation, "...we have a unique perspective of the wine industry," notes Alfred G. Scheid, Chairman and CEO of Scheid Vineyards. "As premium wine grape growers, we are at the earliest stage in the grape-to-glass process. As such we often see the emergence of wine industry trends first."

In addition, investors in wine stocks are somewhat different, according to Mr. Scheid. "Individual investors in our sector characteristically desire a closer relationship with the company. They’re typically not in it only for a stock ride. They enjoy the extras associated with the wine business¼ such as our Wine Dividend Program and annual meetings that bring them eye-to-eye with industry experts," he adds.

Featured speakers include:

_ Jon A. Fredrikson of Gomberg, Fredrikson & Associates. Mr. Fredrikson is a wine industry economist with 28 years of diversified experience in the wine business. He publishes The Gomberg-Fredrikson Report, a monthly statistical and analytical wine industry publication. His presentation is entitled "Wine Demand: Past, Present and Future".
