SCHEID VINEYARDS INC. COMMENTS ON COOL WEATHER

MARINA DEL REY, CA - June 10, 1999 - Scheid Vineyards Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: SVIN)

announced today that continuing cool weather in California may have an adverse effect on the yields of wine grape vineyards for the upcoming harvest of 1999.

Commenting on the weather, Mr. Scott D. Scheid, Chief Operating Officer of Scheid Vineyards, said, "Temperatures in the major grape growing regions of California have been running well below normal throughout this spring which has had a negative effect on the potential yield of white grapes, particularly chardonnay. Red varieties may not be as affected because they develop later." He went on to say, "It is too early in the year for reliable crop estimates, but our experience and conversations with other growers throughout the state leads us to believe that the 1999 harvest may produce an average to below-average crop. We have no concerns, however, about quality at this time." Mr. Scheid cautioned that weather patterns could change and a warming trend throughout the summer months could significantly improve the crop outlook.

Scheid Vineyards Inc. is a leading independent producer of premium wine grapes and operates approximately 6,000 acres of vineyards, primarily in Monterey County, California. The Company sells most of its grape production under long-term contracts to wineries producing primarily premium quality table wines, and the Company also produces a small amount of ultra premium wine under its own labels.
