SCHEID VINEYARDS AWARDS $10,000 TO SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

Marina del Rey, CA May 24, 2000 Scheid Vineyards Inc. (Nasdaq: SVIN) awarded $10,000 in scholarship money to the King City High School winners of its annual writing contest. Scheid Vineyards has conducted the Scheid Writing Contest for 12 years and has awarded over $100,000 to scholarship recipients.

Participants of the Scheid Writing Contest must write an essay on a given topic. This year, students were asked to research and discuss the contributing factors and possible solutions to school violence.

Alfred G. Scheid, President and CEO, commented, “We began this scholarship program in 1989 and have found it to be an excellent way of supporting our local-area youth and giving back to our community. To know that we have aided students in their quest to attend college is a great feeling.” Al Scheid also personally sponsors a similar contest in his birthplace of Bridgeport, Ohio.
