SCHEID VINEYARDS NAMES NEW PRESIDENT, CFO

Marina del Rey, CA - March 26, 2001— Scott D. Scheid has been named President and Chief Operating Officer for Scheid Vineyards Inc. (Nasdaq: SVIN), according to a statement issued today by the Company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Alfred G. Scheid.

Scott Scheid joined Scheid Vineyards in 1986, and has been serving as its Chief Operating Officer since 1997. He currently serves as a director of the California Association of Winegrape Growers and was a director of the Monterey County Vintners and Growers Association.

The Company also announced that Mike Thomsen will assume the duties of Chief Financial Officer, a position that has been held by Heidi M. Scheid since 1997. Mr. Thomsen has been serving as Scheid Vineyards’ Controller since 1997.

Heidi Scheid continues with the Company as Senior Vice President, Treasurer and member of its Board of Directors. Ms. Scheid also serves as a director of Wine Market Council, a wine industry association whose goal is to expand the American wine consumer base.

Scheid Vineyards Inc. is a leading independent producer of premium wine grapes and operates approximately 6,000 acres of vineyards, primarily in Monterey County, California. The Company sells most of its grape production under long-term contracts to wineries producing primarily premium quality table wines, and the Company also produces a small amount of ultra premium wine under its own labels.
