SCHEID VINEYARDS TO DEDICATE NEW WINERY

OCTOBER 7; FACILITY FULLY OPERATIONAL, WITH CAPACITY TO CRUSH 10,000 TONS OF GRAPES

Greenfield, CA, Sept 28, 2005 – Scheid Vineyards Inc. (Nasdaq: SVIN) today announced that its new winery, which has a capacity to crush approximately 10,000 tons of grapes, will be dedicated on October 7, 2005 in a mid-day ceremony in Greenfield.  The 42,000 square foot facility is fully operational for the 2005 harvest.

Scott D. Scheid, the Company’s President and CEO, said, “The addition of a grape crushing facility is a natural evolution of Scheid Vineyards’ commitment to providing the highest quality service to our customers.  For 34 years, Scheid Vineyards has been growing quality wine grapes to customer specifications and we’ve earned the distinction of being one of the largest independent growers of premium wine grapes.”

“Our new winery takes our services a step further because it helps solve winemakers’ growing needs for a state-of-the art custom crushing facility in Monterey County.  Instead of trucking grapes sometimes hundreds of miles, we can locally crush the harvest in a winery that offers gentle and efficient fruit handling, superior sanitation, and sophisticated technology, all major requirements for producing top notch wines.” The new winery also will act as a winemaking facility for Scheid’s own grape production.

The Scheid Vineyards Winery is the third major grape crushing facility to be built in Monterey County in the last decade.

The Company currently lists 40-plus, recognized wine labels among its recurring customer base, including Niebaum-Coppola Estate Winery, Don Sebastiani & Sons, David Bruce Winery, The Hess Collection Winery and Constellation Brands, to name a few. It also services smaller wine labels.

A notable team of experts will oversee the new winery operations, including Buddy Masuda, Winery General Manager who came to Scheid from Golden State Vintners; Dave Nagengast, Winemaker, who held winemaking positions at San Martin Winery, Mirassou Vineyards and LaVelle Vineyards; Ralph Mendez, who has joined as Cellar Master from Golden State Vintners; and Chrissy Wittmann, Assistant Winemaker, who has worked at both Courtside Cellars and Meridian Vineyards.

The Scheid Vineyards Winery is located adjacent to the Company's vineyard headquarters, just off of U.S. Highway 101 at 1972 Hobson Avenue, Greenfield, California. For information regarding Scheid's 2005 processing availability, contact Tony Stephen at (707) 688-3628.
